As the Fingers Are

Supported by the European Youth Foundation – Strasbourg

THEATRE PERFORMANCE IN PROTECTION OF HUMAN RIGHTS AT THE APOLONIA FESTIVAL OF ARTS WITH THE PARTICIPATION OF DISABLED YOUNG PEOPLE AND YOUNG LEADERS FROM BULGARIA, MACEDONIA AND SERBIA

When?

September, 2004

Where?

Sozopol, Bulgaria

What?

Young people with different sensibility but equal activity lived together, shared their problems and dreams, cried and singed…

The process of work showed the violence at home, the problems between the different generations, the lack of understanding of the “special needs” by the society, to be the most painful problems of the group. The young people created and presented to the international festival of arts “Apolonia” the spectacle “Like fingers”, which reflects their work by various techniques on different situations with the point “we and the violence”. Pupils from the Sozopol’s school counted in the discussions, inextricably bound up with the play.

The members of “Apolonia” foundation expressed their wish for collaboration aiming the appearance of people with disabilities on every single issue of this festival of arts.

DIARY:

THE HANDS WON RECOGNITION IN A VERY SHORT TIME AS MEANS OF EXPRESSION, WHICH IS EQUIVALENT TO THE SPEECH IN THE GROUP.

WE DEMONSTRATED THE TASKS TO BE COMPLETED, WHILE PRONOUNCING WITH A GOOD ARTICULATION THE RULES FOR THEIR ACCOMPLISHMENT. THE YOUNG PEOPLE HAD TO ACCOMPLISH A GREAT NUMBER OF THEM WITH CLOSED EYES.
