2003 - "Open your eyes!“ – 1 phase

Forum of theatrical performances for prevention of human trafficking in Sofia and Ruse, together with The Geese Theatre Company, Great Britain
With the support of the British Council - Bulgaria

Forum theatrical performance
for the prevention of trafficking in young women

Created by the actors of the English Social Theater “The Geese Theatre” based on real events and stories of Bulgarian girls victims of trafficking, the play presents a familiar story. Deceived, that he will find a well-paid job abroad, The girl confidently goes after her "employer" - a trafficker, who confiscates his identity documents and forces him into prostitution. Trivial. But human trafficking does exist! "Open your eyes!“ reflects the whole process of trafficking - from deception and building trust, which traffickers take advantage of, through violence and the systematic psychological abuse of the "breaking" period to the emotional and psychological effects of imposed slavery and sexual violence.

The lack of words in the show allows the audience to take it very personally, putting in it its own details. The masks, live music and lighting effects have a strong impact and provoke their activity in the next forum theatrical discussion. The host invites viewers to try to "save" the girl, became a victim of human trafficking, as in the replay of a moment of the performance chosen by them, they take on her role and change her behavior for the better, they think, way.

Forum-theater gives young viewers an incredible chance to try out in a safe environment different patterns of behavior in potentially problematic life situations.
